Fred: It rained . . . the end. Actually, I slept my normal time. Susan slept late and enjoyed the rain this morning and it basically rained all day. There's been a weather system that's hung around down here the last few days and it's been either raining or cloudy. But anyway, we decided we would go get some breakfast at the Lighthouse Café and we did and had the same meal that we've had every time we've been there. We met the guy who's probably the owner. I guess he's the owner and we found out that he had managed or owned a restaurant in Atlanta where we're from, very near to where we live. So that was interesting to meet him.
Then once we left there, we went and shopped in the stores that are on either side of the restaurant. One's called Tuttles (Tuttle's Sea Shell Shop) and the other's called Seahorse something or other (Sporty Seahorse Shop) and they have different types of things: clothing and knickknacks, nautical theme decorations, lighthouses and all kind of different things that you might want to get while you're on vacation.
We went home from there and basically did nothing. Susan read all afternoon, working on novel number five. Finishing that up as I speak and I downloaded emails and that was about it for me, nothing productive.
Then for dinner we decided we would try a new place and sort of downgrade and go with something simple, so we went to a place called
The Sanibel Grill, which is basically right next door to the place that we were at last night, the Twilight Café. It's also on Tarpon Bay Rd. at the far west end of Periwinkle, across the street from the Post Office. There's actually another restaurant that's connected to it called
The Timbers and I guess they're owned by the same company.
But anyway, The Sanibel Grill is a sports bar type place with your standard sports bar fare: hot wings and just bar food, but it was really good. I had some very good wings and Susan got a shrimp and cheese pizza and I had some of it and it was good. I had fries and then I had some pie, which was also quite good and they had lots of televisions that you could watch. Right now baseball's on, so there was a Brave's game. We watched a little bit of that and they also have Trivia if you want to play Trivia, but there's a pretty decent little crowd for a Wednesday night at 8:30 in the evening on a small island. I imagine it's probably a pretty popular place, especially during the high season here, so check that out. A neat place to go. They had some seats outside. I'm not sure if they served outside or not, but there were some people out there just having a couple of drinks.
Susan had a couple of glasses of wine, which were $7.95, which maybe is a little much, so the total bill came to $48. It would have been $15, $16 less if she hadn't had anything to drink, but of course people are going there to drink, so plan accordingly.
That was it. We just came on home and that's it for Wednesday.
