Sanibel Island Shopping
If your favorite pastime is shopping, you won't be disappointed while shopping on Sanibel. There are many shops tucked away all over the island. A perfect activity for a rainy or sunny day. Many of the shops are very unique and feature one of a kind pieces of artwork, glassware, jewelry, island themed gifts, shells and clothing.
Periwinkle Place is the largest shopping venue on Sanibel Island. There is plenty of parking and multiple places to eat or get a snack. It is located at 2075 Periwinkle Way. It has covered walkways (which is great if it is raining!) throughout the entire shopping area. There are also benches to sit at in a park like environment. A very beautiful place. There are 27 unique shops in this shopping plaza. There is also the "Sanibel Day Spa" where you can enjoy a day of pampering.
The Tahitian Gardens is another shopping center located at 1975 Periwinkle Place. This shopping plaza also contains the Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant and the Sanibel Cafe. There are many shops which you can visit and be undercover while walking from shop to shop.
One of the most unique shopping experiences is Jerry's of Sanibel. Jerry's has a little bit of everything. Jerry's is a stand alone complex that consists of a grocery store, retails shops and Jerry's restuarant.
There is a tropical garden on the lower level and it has multiple tropical birds in cages that you can look and talk to. The birds are very beautiful. The retail stores have a little bit of everything in them. There is a covered parking deck for customer convenience.
One of my favorite places to "bum" is at Winds. It is located at 2353 Perwinkle Way. The store has t-shirts, gift items, beach shoes, umbrellas, suntan lotion etc. It's a fun place to spend time before or after eating dinner. Our other favorite place is CVS. This store is a great place to get a beach chair, a candy bar, wine, beach blankets, postcards, magazines, books, etc. It is located on Palm Ridge Road, which is the road directly across from Winds. Another place to shop is the Seahorse Shopping Plaza on
Periwinkle Way near the lighthouse end of the island. There are two places to eat in this shopping center, the Lighthouse Cafe and
Pinocchio's Ice Cream. The largest store is the Sporty Seahorse in this quaint shopping center. They carry clothing, shoes and gifts. Boardwalks and covered overhangs protect you from the elements while shopping. Another neat little store is Tuttles. It features jewelry, t-shirts and unique gifts. The owner is originally from Michigan and has been on Sanibel Island for almost 37 years. A fun and friendly guy to talk with while shopping.
