Directions: How to Get to Sanibel Island

Now that you have decided to visit Sanibel Island, you need to know how to get here! Whether by car or air we have information to help you reach your destination.

TRAVEL BY CAR

Interstate 75 When coming from the northern states take Interstate 75 south into the state of Florida and remain on this interstate until you reach Ft. Myers. Then take Exit 131 (Daniels Parkway) and head west (turn right at the end of the exit ramp) to Summerlin Road. Take a left on Summerlin Road and follow until you reach the Sanibel Island Causeway and Toll Plaza. Remember, it will cost $6.00 to cross over to Sanibel Island. There is major road construction on these roads at the moment, so take special care when driving.

Interstate 95 Take Interstate 95 into Florida and then turn west onto Interstate 10 (near Jacksonville) the proceed south on Interstate 75.

Interstate 4 From Orlando head west on Interstate 4 and then proceed to take Interstate 75 south.

TRAVEL BY AIR

The Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is the main airport servicing the Ft. Myers/Sanibel Island/Naples area. Most of the major airlines serve this airport. This airport has been recently renovated and enlarged. A Visitor Service Center is located near the baggage claim area if you need assistance. The airport is located off Daniels Parkway on Terminal Access Road. When leaving the airport proceed on Daniels Parkway and follow the above driving directions to Sanibel Island. These car rental facilities are located just off the airport property. There are shuttle buses to take you to your car rental agency to pick up your car.
