Hungry Heron Restaurant Review
The Hungry Heron is a major kid friendly restaurant. This family restaurant has a huge menu and is especially geared to kids. The menu has over 250 items! You may wonder as I did, how can they cook at a minutes notice from all of these food choices? They claim it's there very well trained staff and the state of the art equipment that helps them serve whatever dish your heart desires. The menu consists of salads, a huge selection of sandwiches, appetizers, soups, seafood (shrimp, grouper, clams etc.), fish 'n chips baskets, pasta, beef and chicken dishes.
We have eaten here twice in the thirteen years we have visited Sanibel Island. I personally was not impressed with facility or the service. The restaurant to me is outdated and screams early eighties. The food was okay, even though I did order the ultimate nachos and they were served to me partially burnt! My husband enjoyed his food more but agreed our service was not the best. Rude would be the word.
As I have stated before kid restaurants are not number one on our list. It could be people with large families will enjoy this restaurant much more than we did. It does have plenty of seating with large tables for big groups.
The Hungry Heron is located off of Periwinkle Way at 2330 Palm Ridge Road in the Palm Ridge Shopping Center. There is plenty of parking. Hours of operation are Monday thru Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Phone: 239-395-2300.
